About us

The Xela Institute of Art is a 501(c)(3) arts nonprofit located in Wrigley Village, Long Beach in LA's avant-garde cultural legacy. Dedicated to showcasing both emerging and established CA and international artists, Xela prioritizes conceptual rigor and experimentation. Our collaborative curatorial process values artist autonomy and community dialogue, selecting work that challenges conventional boundaries and sparks meaningful engagement. .

Founded in 2022, the Xela Institute of Art is one of the few independent, non-collecting institutions in the country and the only museum in Long Beach dedicated to the presentation of contemporary art, performance, and experimental programming. By nurturing a space where artists and communities converge, Xela seeks to expand Long Beach’s cultural landscape and serve as a platform for creatives invested in imagining benevolent, expressive futures.
